Who Are We
The Napa County Library Foundation has a special public-private relationship with the community, providing individuals and groups a means by which they can give monetary support to one of our most cherished treasures -- The Napa County Library.

Some of my fondest memories feature libraries: as a child, riding a bike with siblings to the local library about a mile away; reporting on books read to the Children’s Librarian, who, we were convinced, had read EVERY book in the library; directing the Adult Literacy program here at the Napa County Library for 20 plus years and seeing lives changed by the library and its services. So, when the Library Foundation asked me to serve on its board there was only one possible response: of course.
Favorite book: whatever is at hand at the moment; today it’s Five Presidents by Clint Hill

If I had to be stranded in a building for an extended period, I’d want it to be our library – it truly has it all! Check out books, magazines, DVDs, databases and music and thousands of them.
Favorite author: Steinbeck.
Favorite books just for fun: Anything by Tom Clancy.

I have been on the board for the last three years and I see how the library has so many resources it offers its community to make someone become the best version of themselves. I want to be able to see how much it grows.

I became a volunteer for the Library Foundation because I truly feel strongly about the concept of the library, especially the Napa County Library, and that concept is that our library is a collection of sources of information made accessible to our community for reference or borrowing. Every community should have the luxury of “borrowing” something to read. I am proud to be a part of something that assist in that effort.
My first book to check out at the library when I was young was Pearl Buck’s The Good Earth, and I’ve read every one of Pearl Buck‘s books since.
Carol Van Brocklin
As a member of the Library Foundation Board, I have the opportunity to help our community libraries acquire extras that the Library budget can’t cover. I have always had a great love of books and libraries and am so pleased to be able to be a part of this organization.
Favorite book: Life in a Jar
Al Verstuyft
The library is a wonderful community resource especially during the fires of the last three years. The Library provides many resources and socialization for our community with activities like Art in the Library. The Foundation provides community funded growth for the library, especially in on-line services, like www.brainfuse.com, Khan Academy and e-books. During the past twelve years I have been a volunteer in the Study Center and for the Lego Robotics workshop. It has been a rewarding experience.

Deborah Susan Kreutz nee Eisley
My name is Deborah Susan Kreutz nee Eisley.
I was born and raised and attended school in Napa. Upon graduation from Napa High, I went on to Westminster College and then San Jose State University where I received a degree in Spanish literature.
My husband and I married right after we graduated from college and spent many years traveling. And then we had our two children, Caitlin and Grant and resettled in Napa.
Besides being a traveler and a parent, for 25 years I made a career in finance and accounting here in Napa.
I have enjoyed using my spanish language skills teaching and/or tutoring English or Spanish as a second language. Many years ago while working for a vineyard management company, I published a small dictionary of Spanish/English viticultural terms. When we retired and lived in Mexico for 7 years, I studied Mexican literature and painting and taught English at the local library. Prior to the covid pandemic, I volunteered as an ESL tutor at the Napa County library.
My interests are many and varied. I love to garden, camping, English history, hiking and of course, books and libraries.
Marc Longoria
I am a second-generation Napa County Library Foundation member, as my father Conrad Longoria, was also a Foundation Board member. I grew up in the Bay Area and in a couple South American countries during my teen years. I was the kid with the glasses who read under the covers with a flashlight – everything from Comic Books or action adventure to my great love – Science: fact or fiction. I have a hard time parting with any of my precious books – no matter how tattered or worn. Science fiction is my first love, but I also enjoy true science – in fact my grandkids have dubbed me “Mr Science” as I love to share my fascination of the Universe. I’m also a great sports fan -especially our Bay Area teams. I love competition and enjoy golf, bocce ball, and a good poker hand!
